THE DECK

A map of the 78 cards

A standard tarot deck contains 22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor Arcana. Major cards explore broad themes such as change, choice and renewal. The minor cards are divided into Wands, Cups, Swords and Pentacles, each with Ace through Ten and Page, Knight, Queen and King. Here, Wands are a lens for motivation, Cups for feelings, Swords for thinking, and Pentacles for practical resources. These associations are interpretive conventions rather than scientific classifications.
